Welcome to TerrifIck's first entry! To start this blog on a positive note (there will be many negative entries to follow, believe me), I'm going to tell you about Yarnell's, an auto repair shop in Mountain View. We've been taking my wife's '98 Altima there for years due to their honesty, technical know-how and competitive pricing. There are a few stories I could tell you about their great service, but I'll give you the latest. About a year ago our Nissan wouldn't start if the car wasn't used for more than three days. We installed a new battery purchased at a local gas station, but the issue persisted.
So, we took the car to Yarnell's. My contact there was Craig, who told me it was a battery issue. "Nonsense!", I exclaimed. I lectured him on how the battery was new (an Interstate battery at that). Craig proposed that since the battery was recently purchased and had a warranty, he could take it to a nearby parts shop and get it exchanged. I took him up on his offer. The car started, sure enough, but how about letting the car sit for a few days, since that's what caused the issue before? "Sure!" he said. "Except", I told him, "let's make it two weeks. Just to be extra-sure." "No problem!", he said.
Two weeks came and went, the car started without the slightest cough, wheeze or hiccup. And, the car has been running smoothly for eight months now despite periodic use (it sits on our driveway during the week). So, let's see. Craig consulted with me on the phone several times (which included me and my big mouth telling him he was plain wrong), he took my battery to a parts store and got it exchanged, he installed the new battery and he let me keep the Altima at Yarnell's for two weeks. And, the best part is the car works! What did Yarnell's charge for all this? Zip. It was all on the house. And, this Craig guy isn't even my friend. If that isn't customer service, please tell me what is.
